The 2009 G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh
presents a feeding ground for a verity of
international protest groups, anti-capitalist, trade
unions, environmentalists, church groups, political
campaigners and even terrorists. As was the case in
London, nearly 50,000 protesters ascended on the
city weeks in advance of the two day meeting and
presented extreme security risks for the citizens of
London, foreign delegations and the dignitaries.
These groups decried victory as the international
stage helped them deliver their monikers, ranging
from “Climate Emergency” to “Jobs not Bombs” in an
attempt to get their message across to as many
people as possible. Consequently, the City of
Pittsburgh and the surrounding region are likely to
experience a more organized and sophisticated threat
hosting the 2009 G-20 Summit. We strongly believe
plans are well underway that will far surpass the
threats presented in London. |
